The Dallas Cowboys had their season come to an end in dramatic fashion against the San Francisco 49ers. What started out as a promising year was gone in 60 minutes as the Cowboys really were not the same team after starting 6-1. Cowboys fans are quick to point the blame, mainly at head coach Mike McCarthy. But, should we place the blame on him?

Should the Dallas Cowboys fire coach McCarthy?

In my opinion, yes. But it looks like it will be later rather than sooner.

According to SI.com, when asked if McCarthy is safe, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones gave a pretty definite answer.

“Absolutely,” Cowboys COO Stephen Jones said on Monday, a day after Dallas’ disappointing home playoff loss to the 49ers, offering ownership’s public show of support. “Very confident.”

Owner Jerry Jones went a little further.

“I don’t even want to discuss anything like that at this particular time,” said Jones. “That’s not on the table. The game speaks for itself.”

Well, the way the Cowboys played this year speaks for itself. After starting off red hot (with exception of the first game loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs), the Cowboys continually shot themselves in the foot with stupid penalties, time management issues, and some very poor play calling. Even in the 12 wins that the Cowboys had, this was still the case. Sure they swept the NFC East this year and blew out the Eagles twice, but did you see how weak our division was?

To me, there seemed to be a lack of discipline, a lack of focus, and a lack of a running game. Not to mention the play calling was a bit weird at times. Yeah, we had two amazing running backs but we couldn't run the ball...on anyone. And I know that Kellen Moore is the play-caller, but McCarthy has the final say.

All of that starts at the top. It's the head coach's job to make sure the team is ready, focused, and ready to kick some butt. The Cowboys always seemed to start off flat. They were just not ready to play at the start of a game. Most of the time it took until the 3rd and 4th quarters to even get anything going. By the time, it was too late in a lot of cases. McCarthy's time management of the game was horrendous at times. And you want to talk penalties? The Dallas Cowboys were the most penalized team in the NFL racking up 127 penalties for 1103 yards. That's pathetic.

So, in my opinion, yes, I think Mike McCarthy should be sent packing. (Get it, cause he used to be the coach of the Green Bay Packers)
