On Friday (Aug. 10), singer-songwriter Sammy Brue is releasing a new EP, and to celebrate, he's sharing an acoustic performance of one of its tracks with The Boot. Readers can press play above to watch Brue sing his new song "Our Garden" as he and the camera look down on the city of Los Angeles.

Taylor Bonin shot Brue's "Our Garden" video in LA's Griffith Park. The song finds Brue comparing relationships to gardens: Both require "revisit[ing] and tend[ing] to" to stay in a good place.

"Whether it's family, friends, first loves or the guy we buy soda from at the convenience store, they shape us like a gardener shapes his garden," Brue reflects to The Boot. "Water and sunlight, or poison and weeds -- that determines the outcome."

"Our Garden" is one of new songs on Brue's new EP, Down With Desperation. The artist recorded the project at Seattle's Soundhouse Recording; Steve Fisk produced the record, which follows Brue's his 2017 album I Am Nice.

Brue -- one of The Boot's 2018 Artists to Watch -- is a Portland, Ore., native who now lives in Utah. He's only in his teens, but he's been writing music since the age of 10; by the time he was 11, he was opening for Hayes CarllJohn MorelandLucinda Williams and Asleep at the Wheel. Nowadays, Brue's earned the ear of, among others, Justin Townes Earle, who invited the the young troubadour to open for him and featured Brue on the cover of his 2014 album Single Mothers.
