Last weekend I believe that we had the most perfect weather for being outdoors, and taking in the sights in and around Abilene. My all-time favorite things to do when I get some time to myself, are holding my wife's hand and walking around our local Churches Fall Festivals.

That's exactly what we did the last couple of weekends. It feels like we were on a two-day vacation both weekends because it was so relaxing. For the first time in my life, I came to the realization of how much I love spending time with our family, friends, and neighbors from, in, and around Abilene.

LOOK: This Was The Sacred Heart Church Fall Festival

Plus, the simple things like the cakewalks, kids contests, concerts, kid's dance performances, the auction items, some great food with an ice-cold beer at this incredible Church Fall Festival. I think the last 18 months have made me realize how important the relationships we have with our community really are.

While more fall festivals, craft shows, trunk-or-treats, Thanksgiving, and Christmas celebrations are still to come here in the Big Country. I think we should all be thankful and more appreciative of the awesome people that make up the city and this part of West Texas.

The photos are of the Sacred Heart Church's Fall Festival that took place, right behind the church, and what really caught my attention were the number of children and teens that are involved with their church's activities. This is truly an awesome community we call Abilene.

The Sacred Heart leaders told me this was the biggest and most successful Fall Festival they've had in 31 years. Watch for other "Fall Festival" information and photos to be posted soon.
