Kane Brown was country music's final special guest on American Idol on Sunday, and his two-song performance looked easy. The "Good as You" singer performed his current single and a deep cut from his Experiment album with finalist Alyssa Raghu.

Brown's audio was on point during his performance, which wasn't the case all night long. "Good as You" was first, with the 25-year-old accompanied by guitar and fiddle throughout the song. "Lost in the Middle of Nowhere" brought Raghu to the stage. Brown and Becky G cut the song for the 2018 studio album, but this rendition compared nicely.

This performance was a ironic homecoming for Brown. He tried out for and was cut by American Idol judges long before he started to find success on Facebook and then country radio.

Prior to Brown, country talent to take the American Idol stage included Luke Bryan, Dan + Shay, Jon Pardi and Carrie Underwood. All performed an original song, with everyone but Underwood also teaming with a Season 2 finalist. Brown's performance came during the show's final 40 minutes, when viewers had already learned one contestant would not be winning.

Laine Hardy joined Alejandro Aranda and Madison VanDenburg as finalists during this second season of American Idol on ABC. The 18-year-old is the most country of the three finalists, although it's not clear what genre he'll choose if he wins, or even if he doesn't. He performed rock, country and cajun-pop before joining the show again in 2019. In 2018 he was also a finalist on American Idol.
