Texas singer-songwriter Joshua Ray Walker is premiering "Last Call," a song from his much-anticipated debut album, exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

Based in Dallas, Walker is poised to have a major year in 2019, after impressing critics and fans alike with his rich vocals and stunning songwriting. "Last Call," a song about finding someone (anyone!) to end a lonely night at the bar with, is a perfect example of Walker's occasionally dark, always poignant, tongue-in-cheek lyricism.

"I don't wanna be here when they say 'Last call!' / Don't wanna see your face when the lights come on," Walker sings in the song's chorus. "I'm pretty sure you think my name is Paul."

"Sometimes you’re just a distraction for someone else’s loneliness, or vice versa," Walker tells The Boot. "We’ve all been there, and you might as well laugh about it."

"Last Call" will appear on Walker's forthcoming album Wish You Were Here. It's set for release via State Fair Records in January, and thanks in large part to a track list packed with killer writing, it's pretty much guaranteed to be one of the year's finest Americana releases.

Wish You Were Here is due out on Jan. 25. Visit JoshuaRayWalker.com to learn more.
