If there ever was a song perfectly made for the summer, it’s Jake Owen’s Top 10 hit "I Was Jack (You Were Diane)." And while the song will undoubtedly be turning up (and turned up) throughout the coming months, the accompanying video is just as addictive.

Recently, Owen released a behind-the-scenes video showing all that it took to create the production.

“The video tells the story of two people that continue to flash back to a time when everything made sense, and then when it didn’t,” Owen says in a recent interview with Taste of Country. “I think it turned out beautiful, and I am proud of it, and you never know if there will be a sequel.”

Fans can’t seem to get enough of the relatable storyline demonstrated both in the video and in the song. “I wanted to make sure that everything we did respected the song, because I so respect John Mellencamp,” Owen notes. “Whatever we did, I wanted to make sure that we did it justice. We really sat back and made sure that we made sure it depicted the feeling we were looking to show of young love.”

The song is sure to be on the set list of Owen’s headlining tour, dubbed Life’s Whatcha Make It and kicking off Saturday (June 2) in South Carolina. While the Florida native says he can’t wait to get back out on the road in front of his fans, he will leave a big piece of his heart at home with his daughter, Pearl.

“I mean, now I have a girl that is missing me when I am on the road,” Owen says. “It actually makes me better on the road. We all became entertainers because we were a bit selfish at some time in our life. We were young, and that’s OK. But now I have a little girl, and I have responsibilities to not only my girl at home but to all those people in the stands who have stood with me since the very beginning."
