Abilene Crime Stoppers Inc. first began in March of 1981. Since then Crime Stoppers' mission early on was to try and deter crime and to solve some unsolved cases in Abilene.

I remember when it first started, it was a really big deal for Abilene. The Crime Stoppers plan was clear, get the community to keep their eyes open for criminal activity. With some help from the Abilene Police Department (APD) and the media together we would solve some cases.

Abilene citizens have been encouraged to report any criminal activity and or information anonymously. Plus, now Crime Stoppers provides us with photos and a list of names of those criminals that are wanted by the APD. See below who is WANTED.

The payback is that Big Country residents that report accurate information that leads to an arrest will be rewarded financially. The money for the rewards is provided by several Abilene area businesses and it continues today.
