Garth Brooks headlined the final night of the 2018 Stagecoach Festival on Sunday (April 29), playing to a record setting crowd. But he wanted to share the love.

Brooks brought Lee Brice onstage to duet on "More Than a Memory," a song Brice co-wrote with Billy Montana and Kyle Jacobs. Brooks released it as a single in 2007, and it became the first song to debut at No. 1 in the history of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

"I'm nervous as hell standing here, so why don't you start?" Brooks told Brice — a lie that allowed his friend to take the spotlight. He even let Brice take the lead on the first verse, standing off to the side of the stage, smiling.

When the second verse rolled in, Brooks stepped up to the plate to put the finishing touches on an epic performance by two of the genre's top vocalists.

On Monday, during Brooks' weekly Facebook Live chat with fans, Inside Studio G, he reminisced about Sunday night's show, saying: "I had the best time last night."

He praised his duet partner for being "one of the coolest dudes on the planet," adding, "Lee was singing his butt off. It was awesome."

The crowd wasn't so bad either.

"Those people did it right. The only thing was the wind, but you didn't notice the way people were singing. It was like being welcomed into love. It was a good, good night," Brooks says. "It was neat to get to play country music and get that response, hear those people singing and see that they were singing music with you as far back as you could see, that was cool."

The three-day Stagecoach Festival, set at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif., included some of the country genre's biggest acts as well as several surprise guests throughout the weekend, including the now-famous yodeling Walmart Boy, Mason Ramsey. He guest-starred during Florida Georgia Line's headlining set on Friday night (April 27).
