North Carolina-based trio Gal Friday are premiering their brand-new song “Scrapyard” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

Comprised of three sisters -- Melissa York, Ashley Min and Lauren Wilson -- Gal Friday are the result of a diverse bunch of musical influences, ranging from pop-country sensibilities to the band’s upbringing as the children of successful bluegrass musicians. That mingling of sounds is evident on “Scrapyard,” a spunky, totally relatable heartbreak anthem that will fit in perfectly on playlists alongside Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum and maybe a little Gretchen Wilson.

“Heartbreak happens to us all. We can all relate to it,” the band tells The Boot. “This song talks about how to dust yourself off, learn your worth and move on."

Gal Friday's three members grew up singing together at special events and in church, but it took some compliments from outsiders to convince them to officially join forces. York, Min and Wilson have officially been a band since their teens.

Gal Friday are releasing "Scrapyard" as the debut song from their upcoming album, Smoke & Mirrors. The record is due out this fall, and "Scrapyard" will be available for download on Friday (Sept. 1). Visit GalFridayBand.com to learn more about the trio.
