Former Rodeo Queen Kylie Frey Unleashes New Video for Next Smash

It was only a matter of time, earlier this summer Kylie Frey landed a publishing deal. The Shania Twain protégé, who burst onto the Texas scene with her rip-your-heart-out collaboration with Randy Rogers a couple years ago, signed with Carnival Music in June.

You may recognize this Louisiana high school rodeo queen. If you watched inaugural season of USA Network’s “Real Country” in 2018, you'll recall that she was on Team Shania. Frey has already found solo success on Texas radio with “One Night in Tulsa,” "Horses in Heaven," and "Spur of the Moment."

This week she released the new music video for her next smash "Rodeo Queen."

We are big fans of the Louisiana native who began singing the National Anthem at rodeos at the age of five. At age 15 she was named the Louisiana High School Rodeo Queen, and a year later she won the Louisiana state championship for goat-tying. So she's not just singing about rodeo life, she lived it.

She tells Rolling Stone, "I come from a big rodeo family and that’s all my dad and his brothers and sisters did growing up. I think he was sort of burnt-out by the time his kids came along and he was really pushing us to get into baseball and, you know, the normal sports. But my sister and I, I guess it was just in our blood to follow this family tradition. I probably wouldn’t be a singer if it wasn’t for growing up in rodeo, because I would sing the national anthem for every rodeo I was entered in. And I kind of found my voice through that and just singing on the back of the tailgate after a rodeo. It was my outlet and I wrote songs about it.
