Virginia-based country-rock five-piece Folk Soul Revival are premiering the music video for their song "Other Side" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to hear the fast-paced, hard-driving tune.

Written by Folk Soul Revival frontman Daniel Davis, "Other Side" is a song about the misconceptions applied to people who live in the South. “It was written as a statement about people looking down on Southern folks," Davis tells The Boot.

"I’ve been instantly judged so many times just because of my accent," the artist adds. "I’m proud to be from the South, and that’s what this song is about. There’s nothing wrong with trailers or country music.”

Folk Soul Revival's music video for "Other Side" was filmed at the 5 Spot, an East Nashville bar that fans of CMT's Nashville may recognize as a popular venue from the show's first season. According to the band, the concept of the clip was inspired by the lengths that a man will go to impress a woman, especially when there's a little "Tennessee courage" (read: whiskey) involved.

In addition to Davis, Folk Soul Revival includes baritone guitarist, vocalist and occasional songwriter Justin Venable; bassist Brandon Sturgill; guitarist and pedal steel and banjo player Chad Light; and drummer and vocalist Justin Louthian. "Other Side" is one of 12 tracks of their forthcoming self-titled fourth album.

"These are stories of home," Davis says of the new record. "We're all backwoods country people who grew up in this area, listening to bluegrass and country. That's where we come from, and that's where this album comes from, too."

Folk Soul Revival is set for release on Aug. 17 and available for pre-order via iTunes. Visit FolkSoulRevival.com to keep up with the band.
