Like many before him, David Adam Byrnes followed his passion from his home in Arkansas all the way to Nashville. Like nearly just as many, though, he found himself dissatisfied.

Despite earning the opportunity to spend years in writing rooms with the Nashville elite, even landing a coveted spot at the Key West Songwriters Festival and performing with guys like Paul Overstreet and Keith Stegall. He realized that he wasn't truly happy.

Uninspired by the direction of "country" songs he was having to write, after a couple years, he knew it was time to find his way back to his own style of honky tonk.

Ok, I'll give you one guess; which Texas troubadour inspired him to tap back into "his sound." Any idea?

If you said "Cody Johnson" give yourself a pat on the back.

Byrnes says that the first time he heard Cody Johnson on the radio he rediscovered “his sound,” the one he left behind years ago for that shot at "the big leagues." Fast forward to today and he's spent a lot of time collaborating with long-time CoJo producer, Trent Willmon. Talk about full-circle

His latest album, Neon Town, was released nearly one year ago in October. The Texas newcomer has already landed four straight No. 1 hit singles on Texas radio.

Today, we are happy to debut what he hopes will become his fifth. "Too Much Texas" his brand new release comes out this Friday (September 24th), but we've got your exclusive first listen right here.

"To me, this is the start of the next chapter of my life and my music. Ive had 3 years to really dig and find out just who I am as an artist, writer and performer.  Seeing just how huge the state of Texas is, it fueled the idea for this song."
