Just days before their upcoming self-titled album is due for release, Dan + Shay have released a soaring new ballad, "Keeping Score." Readers can press play above to hear the new track.

Teaming with pop icon Kelly Clarkson, the country duo continues to showcase the lyrical depth and complexity that have been hallmarks of the new batch of songs, starting with the album's brooding lead-off single, "Tequila." This time around, however, the subject matter turns to staying in the moment with the one you love.

"I know I'm only human / Don't know how many sunsets I got left / And I don't want to ruin / This moment by wondering what comes next," they sing in the song's chorus, harmonizing with Clarkson's effortlessly acrobatic upper range. "I just want to love you / Like it's all I'm living for / Hold you close, enjoy you more / And spend a little less time keeping score."

While by now, Dan + Shay's lyrical dexterity and emotional power should come as no surprise to fans, it's the powerhouse combination of Smyers' and Clarkson's vocal prowess that makes "Keeping Score" a standout track.

"It is such an honor for us to sing this duet with Kelly," Dan Smyers, one half of the duo, says in a press release. "Not only is she one of the most incredible vocalists of our generation, she is one of the most genuine, kind-hearted people we have ever met. We're glad this song resonated with her as much as it did with us."

"Keeping Score" was written by Smyers, Jordan Reynolds and Laura Veltz, and comes as the fifth new track to be released off the upcoming album, Dan + Shay. The duo is also currently on the road with Rascal Flatts for their 2018 summer Back to Us Tour.
