One of country music's hottest couples might have a duet in the works. Lovebirds Carly Pearce and Michael Ray recently teased the possibility of a collaboration on Pearce's upcoming sophomore album.

Clay Moden and Liz Mantel of country radio station WYRK squeezed some answers out of Pearce and Ray during interviews before the 2018 CMA Awards. While chatting with the radio hosts, Pearce and Ray didn't outright say that they have a duet coming out, but they flirted with the idea and made it pretty obvious that something is in the works.

"What if it's already done?" Pearce responded when asked if the couple would ever record a duet. The singer they played coy, but did say that if a collaboration was coming, fans could expect it "next year."

"One of us is making a new record," Ray added, fanning the flames of speculation.

Previously, Pearce admitted to Taste of Country that she would be down for a duet with her beau: "There might be some things coming, I dunno," she said in early November. "We would love to sing together."

Pearce released her first album, Every Little Thing, in 2017, and is working on her sophomore album; she released that project's first single, "Closer to You," on Nov. 2. The singer recently announced a co-headlining tour with fellow up-and-comer Russell Dickerson. Ray, meanwhile, released his sophomore album, Amos, in June.
