Pop star Camila Cabello has tapped Kane Brown for a new version of her song "Never Be the Same." Readers can press play above to hear Brown's vocals on the remixed track.

"Never Be the Same" is Cabello's second single from her debut solo album, Camila, released in January. The original version has been certified platinum in the U.S. and is in the Top 5 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart. Brown's newly added vocals come in on the song's second verse.

Prior to the release of Cabello and Brown's version of "Never Be the Same" on Friday (April 27), rumors began circulating about the track's existence after, as Variety reports, the two artists tweeted at each other about a forthcoming surprise. Both Cabello and Brown then confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon (April 26).

"When we were writing this song, @frankdukes kept telling me 'the melodies you're doing make it feel like this could be a country song,'" Cabello writes. "Ever since we finished writing it, I always thought this could be re-imagined with a country artist, and I heard Kane Brown's song "What Ifs" one day and freaked out!!!! I was like he's the PERFECT artist to do this with."

Just as Cabello is riding a wave of success with the original version of "Never Be the Same" in the pop world, Brown is flying high in country: "What Ifs," a duet with Lauren Alaina, became a major hit -- it even earned a Vocal Event of the Year nomination at the 2018 ACM Awards -- and his song "Heaven" is currently climbing the charts.
