When it came time for the 2018 CMA Awards to hand out the award for Vocal Duo of the Year, they called on a pair of veterans — Brothers Osborne, who claimed their third win in that category.

"I don't know why we keep winning this," joked John Osborne, going on to poke a little fun at the recent midterm elections: "If this was important, there'd definitely be a recount."

John also had a few words for anyone in the audience watching and wondering if they, too, could achieve the success he'd risen to. The musician noted that he "grew up a total nerd" playing guitar in his room, and that if he could do it, anyone could.

"Work hard, be diligent, and this can be yours too," he stated, to cheers from the audience.

The sibling duo of John and TJ Osborne were also nominated for Musical Event of the Year for "Burning Man," their collaboration with Dierks Bentley. That award went to Kenny Chesney and David Lee Murphy for "Everything's Gonna Be Alright."

Brothers Osborne joined Bentley to perform on the telecast, teaming up for an incendiary joint rendition of "Burning Man," which is the current single from Bentley's Album of the Year-nominated The Mountain.
