Country fans will likely recognize Danaher's co-writer on the dark, hard-driving "Hell or High Water": It's none other than Grammy Awards-winning artist Maren Morris. In fact, Morris is even the one who came up with the song's title.

“I have always enjoyed writing with Maren. She has an unbelievable knack for finding unique melodies and, as you know, is an amazing singer," Danaher tells The Boot. "She brought that title in that day, and I was doing my best to come up with a Buddy Miller-inspired guitar riff. The two of us were in great moods that afternoon, so its kinda funny that we ended up with a salty murder ballad."

Now a Nashville resident, Danaher moved to the city from Austin, Texas, to seriously pursue songwriting.

"I was told by a longtime family friend, Allen Shamblin, that if I wanted to be a serious writer that I needed to be here," Danaher wrote in a 2013 bio. "He couldn't have been more right. Not that there isn't an enormous amount of great singer-songwriters in Austin, but the process made me grow up."

"Hell or High Water" appears on Danaher's forthcoming debut album, Still Feel Lucky, set for release on Sept. 7 and available for pre-order now. Visit BenDanaher.com to learn more about the artist and his upcoming tour dates.
