While performing at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, N.Y., American Aquarium paid tribute to music icon Tom Petty. Press play above to watch the band perform Petty's "Listen to Her Heart" during their Oct. 5 show.

American Aquarium's cover of “Listen to Her Heart” came during the band's encore, after they played a hour-and-a-half long show at the Brooklyn venue. While introducing the track, American Aquarium frontman BJ Barham told the crowd that the song is his favorite Petty song, before leading his newly assembled lineup of bandmates into a killer cover of the Petty classic.

American Aquarium's cover of “Listen to Her Heart” came just a few days after Petty died unexpectedly at the age of 66 after experiencing a cardiac arrest event. Tributes from countless artists, including Marty Stuart, Lukas Nelson and performers of all genres, have poured in in the days following Petty’s sudden death -- a testament to his massive impact on popular music throughout his expansive career.

At present, the North Carolina-based American Aquarium are touring across the country, along with planning a new album that’s set to come out next year. Titled Things Change, the album is tentatively set for release in May of 2018.
